Laura’s 1960s house hadn’t been touched in decades — structurally sound, but closed off room by room, with the kitchen cut off from the yard entirely.

Once we opened the kitchen wall and let the backyard become part of the everyday view, the whole plan for the renovation followed from there.

Our favorite detail is the original terrazzo floor we uncovered under three layers of carpet and restored instead of replacing.
